After finding a host body in investigative reporter Eddie Brock, the alien symbiote must face a new enemy, Carnage, the alter ego of serial killer Cletus Kasady.

Tom Hardy plays investigative journalist, Eddie Brock. As we remember from the first VENOM (2018), an alien symbiote, VENOM, forces itself into Eddie's body. In the process, it imparts to him  super-human abilities. Although the alien initially had no intention sticking around, it became somehow unable to separte its body from Eddie's - vise-versa. Brock and Venom's relationship is tolerably antagonistic - each wants to be free of the other but are, at least for now, unable to do so. Also the alien, seems to have an odd passion for  wanting to be the "Lethal Protector" which distracts Brock from work and putting his life back together.

Woody Harrelson plays a psychotic serial killer, Cletus Kasady. While in prison, the only reporter Cletus would speak with was Eddie. For some reason he considered him as some sort of kindred spirit. Yet somehow, whether still in prison or freed, Cletus also becomes host for an alien symbiote, CARNAGE - a match made in "hell" given the fact that both had a passion for killing with cause.

*Conclusively, we can say "VENOM" is the "good" alien symbiote which Eddie becomes, taking on its  powers and features , while"CARNAGE" is "bad" one which  Cletus becomes.  Obviously, neither VENOM or CARNAGE  wants the other around.
